Our Mission & Milestones

Our Mission & Vision

To teach Tamil—an ancient language with a rich literary heritage—to children and young adults living in and around Marietta, Georgia.
We cultivate a deep, lifelong interest in the language, literature, culture, and traditions of the Tamil-speaking people. We believe language learning thrives when students are actively engaged. Our structured tracks are designed for everyone—whether we are helping families keep their cultural roots alive or guiding students who are exploring Tamil as a completely new language for the very first time. We connect all children to this heritage through interactive classroom activities, cultural celebrations, and community involvement that goes far beyond standard textbooks.

Our Journey & Milestones

2012 — The Foundation
Marietta Tamil School was officially founded by Murlidaran Sundraresan at Dodgen Middle School to meet the growing need for a dedicated Tamil language program in the local area. In its very first academic year, the school welcomed nearly 30 pioneering students.

Growth & Relocation
Driven by strong community demand and a passionate volunteer staff, the school rapidly expanded over the years. To accommodate our growing student body—which now serves around 500 children—the school upgraded its operations and relocated its campus to Hightower Trail Middle School, which serves as our current operational home.

Current Status — Affiliation & Quality Standards
Today, the school operates as an established non-profit branch of GATS. We fully utilize the structured, multi-level syllabus from the International Tamil Academy (ITA) to guarantee the highest academic standards and a clear, accredited path to bilingual literacy for K-12 students.
