Welcome to Marietta Tamil School (MTS)

Marietta Tamil School is a welcoming, non-profit organization in the Atlanta area dedicated to helping children learn the Tamil language and discover its rich cultural heritage.

Fully accredited by The Georgia Accreditation Commission, our school operates entirely through the dedication of parent and community volunteers. We utilize a world-class global curriculum from the International Tamil Academy (ITA) and are proudly affiliated with the Greater Atlanta Tamil Sangam (GATS).

For thousands of years, Tamil has carried timeless values of peace, virtue, and universal togetherness—perfectly captured in the ancient wisdom: “Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir” (All people are our family)

At MTS, we bring this amazing history to life, helping kids connect with their roots, experience the culture, and build bright futures.

About Us

About the Tamil Language

Tamil is not just a language; it is one of the oldest classical languages in the world that remains a vibrant, powerful modern tongue spoken globally today.

Ancient Roots: Since the era of the Three Tamil Sangams (great scholarly assemblies), Tamil literature has championed messages of peace and global unity.

Science & Wisdom: Beyond poetry, ancient Tamil texts contain sophisticated knowledge about natural medicines, astronomy, and advanced governance structures highlighting fair laws, equitable taxation, and brilliant engineering.

Global Legacy: Centuries ago, brave Tamil seafaring traders traveled across oceans to share goods and philosophy with the Greek and Roman empires—so deeply that remnants of ancient Tamil words can still be found in Western languages today.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide excellent Tamil language classes that build linguistic fluency, and foster a true love for our culture and identity. We strive to create a happy, welcoming environment where students feel proud of their heritage and deeply connected to our community.

Our History & Heritage

Marietta Tamil School was established during the 2012–2013 school year to fulfill a growing demand from local families for structured Tamil education in the Marietta area.

Founded in 2012, our very first classes launched at Dodgen Middle School with a close-knit group of nearly 30 students. Over the last decade, our school family has grown beautifully. Today, we are incredibly proud to welcome and teach more than 400 students.

Academic Excellence & Accreditation

We implement an organized, step-by-step curriculum designed to help students progress smoothly at every age:

Fully Accredited: Recognized by The Georgia Accreditation Commission for K-12 grades, ensuring high educational standards.
Global Syllabus: Taught using the trusted, worldwide curriculum from the International Tamil Academy (ITA).
Community Alignment: Proudly affiliated with the Greater Atlanta Tamil Sangam (GATS) to enrich our students’ cultural exposure.

Powered Entirely by Volunteers

The true heartbeat of Marietta Tamil School is our incredible community. Operating as a pure labor of love (Tamil Thondu), our school runs completely on the selflessness of parent and community volunteers. From our leadership team to our classroom teachers, everyone donates their time, energy, and wisdom to guide our students.

Our volunteer family has grown from just 10 pioneers at our inception to a wonderful team of over 100+ selfless volunteers today, making our school feel like a warm, supportive extension of home.
